Zanzibar Artist Hemed Mohammed “Medi”
By Laurent Wastelain

Medi is a true artist from Zanzibar who draws a lot of inspiration from his wonderful Island. It's the reason why most of his work is influenced by Zanzibar Stone Town and traditional boats called Dhow.

Medi's work has been changing a lot from the beginning up to a higher level according to the customers who are buying his paintings. This positive evolution has brought him more confidence.

He is constantly striving to improve the quality and originality of his work.

Medi's work is focused on colors balance, something that most of his clients have noticed due to the quality of his color choice.

Medi was inspired by Raza, fellow artist from Zanzibar Island and Pablo Picasso. This is depicted in his work which is realistic and romantic. He loves Stone Town streets, its inhabitants and the dhows.
