Artist Corner Opens In Kigali

The „Artist Corner“ at Kigali International Airport was officially inaugurated on 22 August 2009 by H.E. Joseph Habineza, Minister of Culture.

The Artist Corner is a joint project of Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority and Isoko Arts Rwanda, a professional association of Rwandese visual artists aiming at the promotion of fine arts and the defence of professional interests of artists.

In a designated area of the departure hall of Kigali International Airport in Kanombe, artists will have an opportunity to exhibit and sell their works.

They will rotate monthly, giving thus a chance to travellers to discover Rwandese art and culture through paintings and sculptures as well as giving better and lesser known Rwandese artists a chance to gain a greater audience.

The first artist be featured in the Artist Corner is Epa Binamungu, a veteran of Rwandese fine arts who has frequently exhibited in and outside Rwanda.
