A New Direction For Kenyan Art
By AfricanColours.com

After nine years running Rahimtullah Museum of Modern Art, former curator Carol Lees' next mission is to seek new markets for the extraordinary talent present in East Africa. Carol and her partner, Dominic Martin intend to do this with a comprehensive new website, kenyanfineart.com (which is still under construction) and a small but arty place to work from.

The One Off Gallery at the loft is the new space for the Promotion of Contemporary art from the East African. The gallery is open for business and will host its first ever open day on the 14th of March 2009.

You are invited to an open day on Sunday 14th March 2010 11am to 6.30pm (Pimms and Sushi from noon to 2.30pm).

Works of art are on sale and prices start as low as Kshs 15, 800.

Mixed works by all the artists represented will be exhibited: Timothy Brooke, Peter Elungat, Peterson Kamwathi, James Mbuthia, Mandy Bonnell, Ehoodi Kichapi, Beatrice Wanjiku, Joseph Bertiers, Jackson Wanjau, Harrison Mburu, Fitsum Berhe, Janina Migdal, Cartoon Joseph and a special installation of new works by Richard Kimathi.

Directions to One Off Gallery:

On Limuru Road, Pass the Village Market and the turning to Runda on your right. Some 250m beyond the Runda turn-off, turn left up the hill passing the Cockar Veterinary Clinic on your left.

Turn right at the top passing over two speed bumps until you see Kioko’s ‘Masaai Man’ metal sculpture just under a kilometre down.

Turn left into the long driveway. At the gate proceed with caution: horses, donkeys, geese, chickens and the dog have right of way – and of course Angel, the beloved blind goose!

KARIBU.
