Figments And Fantasies
By Maggie Otieno/AfricanColours.com

One of Kenya's most prominent visual artists Kamal Shah presented a collection of his latest works at a colourful opening ceremony at the Alliance Francaise in Nairobi, Kenya on the 14th of November 2007. The show includes works in acrylics on canvas assorted with mixed media work on hardboard.

He has been working using this new style for the last one year and the paintings on show are results of continuous experimentation with objects that are common in everyday life. Some of the works are ornamented with beads from the Maasai, brass and silver jewellery from India and even Keys. The show at the Alliance Francaise runs through to the 30th of November 2007.
