UNESCO: New AudioVisual E-Website

UNESCO: New AudioVisual E-Website

Dear friends,

I am glad to inform you that the new website of the UNESCO Audiovisual E-Platform has been uploaded with new functionalities. I invite you to visit: http://creativecontent.unesco.org/welcome

For those who already know me from the period I spent at UNESCO Paris and who have an idea about the Audiovisual E-Platform as well as for those who do not know much about the Project, let me remind you that this initiative has as priority to support independent audiovisual producers and has nearly 600 audiovisual works from around 80 countries that you can view thanks to the stream system.

At the end of 2008 and thanks to a contribution of the Spanish government, the management of this project was decentralized from Paris and it is currently managed by the UNESCO Centre of Catalonia-UNESCOCAT.

Since February 2009, when I joined the team of UNESCOCAT, as the Head of the Audiovisual Department and project officer of this initiative, we have categorized these productions in themes such as women, education, environment and intercultural dialogue, among others.

But the most important part has been to start including exhaustive information about the authors, such as their biography, photo and even their reflections and thoughts about audiovisual creation. We believe that this is the best way to improve the promotion we intend to develop about their work. In this sense, I invite you as well to continue contributing to our catalogues to promote your audiovisual creations.

Apart from this new content, we have started to develop a line of action through partnerships with festivals and other international organizations, particularly UN agencies from which we expect to have part of their audiovisual catalogues.

For instance, in a few days we will upload 15 productions from the IFAD, the International Fund for Agricultural Development.

Hoping that you will like our new website and that we can establish synergies in this new era of our Project, receive my best wishes from Barcelona.
