Véronique Tadjo was born in 1955 in Paris and brought up in Abidjan.
She's an exceptional painter, writer, poet and illustrator, especially of childrens books. Her Ivorian father was a high ranking Civil Servant until his retirement and her French mother is painter and sculptor. She has a doctorate in African American Studies.
She has travelled extensively in West and East Africa, Europe, the United States and Latin America and has taught at the University of Abidjan in the Ivory Coast for several years. She currently lives and works in South Africa.
