Background

The Trienal de Luanda is one of the most important and most advanced art exhibitions in Africa . It is founded and organized by Fernando Alvim and his team, one of the curators is Simon Njami.

For the second edition in 2010, the Trienal is partnering with Goethe-Institut in an exhibition 7 emerging artists in 7 African cities aimed at assembling 7 artworks from 7 young emerging artists based and living in Addis Ababa, Abidjan, Rabat/Casablanca, Nairobi, Windhoek, Ouagadougou and Kigali.

The show will be held in Luanda Angola from 22nd November – 19th December 2010. This is to announce a call for proposals for this exhibition.

Guideline for the Artworks

The works should be contemporary not craft (which is also beautiful but not in our point of interest). The order of interest is video/photography/ installation/painting /sculpture. 

Time frame

1. Deadline for proposal submission: 20th August 2010.

2. Selection of one artist from each of the 7 African cities by a curatorial team: 31st August 2010.

3. Exhibition of the 7 artworks of the 7 cities: November 22nd – December 19th 2010.

Proposal Submission

The art work should be sent as one or more images each with a short biography or text in PDF form via email to:
