This year’s event will include a National symposium on Art Education, themed 50 Years after Independence: Redefining art Education in Nigeria
IMFAC is the annual art festival and competition for young artists in Nigeria. It is the brainchild of Chief Robert Oji, Managing Director of Rocana Nigeria Limited, an Enugu based advertising agency.
The festival has been supported since inception by the French Embassy and the Alliance Française network in Nigeria, as well as the Pan African Circle of Artists (PACA), among others.
The first edition of the Festival which held in October 2007, drew about 180 entries. In 2008 and 2009, entries exceeded 400 and 500 respectively from young artists all over the country. Life In My City is therefore a growing national and international youth art and tourist event with great promise for the future.
The aims of the festival are:
To create a vibrant, sustainable art and culture centre in Enugu as an important national and international destination for the arts.
To provide space through art for young people to make meaningful statements about their environment wherever they may live in Nigeria.
To encourage, inspire and economically empower young artists throughout Nigeria by promoting and commercialising their creative endeavours on a national and international platform.
To excite the public imagination about the culture & tourism potentials and other developmental strides in Enugu and the East generally.
