In the Spirit of Water

"In the Spirit of Water" is an exhibition initiated by Virginia Ryan, a visual artist based in Italy and currently living in Abidjan.

After her arrival in Côte d'Ivoire, in January 2010, Virginia Ryan started a collection of works on the theme of the mythological water spirit, from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. This collection of "poetry eccentric cross" aims to meet the academic art and street art. It thus offers different styles of art form: the bronze in graphic design, through oil painting, photography, batik hand painted ...

"In the Spirit of Water" wants to celebrate the beginning of this collection, now consisting of over fifty pieces of two and three dimensional forms.

The exhibition "The Spirit of Water" is the first public presentation of work, conceived as a work-in-progress and the celebration of the journey so far. The presence of some Italian artists in the collection (Ilaria Margutti Riccardo Murella Candeloro and Lucilla) will be more a time for meeting and sharing with local artists.

Like Water, natural connection between men, from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, "The Spirit of Water" is a visual conversation between artists 'Atlantic' and artists 'Mediterranean'.

The realization of the exhibition "The Spirit of Water" was made possible through the support of artists, Charles Donwahi Foundation for Contemporary Art, Contemporary Art Foundation-Ghana, the Italian Embassy.
