Con la proyección de la película ¿Tiene Sida el Presidente?, del laureado director Arnold Antonin se dejará inaugurada la Muestra Itinerante de Cine sobre Haití, la cual se llevará a cabo del 12 al 16 de enero del 2011, la inauguración de la misma se realizará el miércoles 12 de enero a las 7 :30pm, fecha del primer aniversario del trágico terremoto que sacudió a la hermana nación caribeña.

La Asociación Dominicana de Productores de Cine (ADOCINE) y Filme Vision Haitiens con la colaboración de otras instituciones nacionales e internacionales, como UNICEF, UNESCO y el Instituto Cubano del Arte y la Industria Cinematográficas (ICAIC), son los responsables de la organización de esta muestra, que tendrá como escenario el auditorio del Centro Cultural Mauricio Báez en el sector de Villa Juana.

La muestra cinematográfica recoge el punto de vista de un selecto grupo de directores haitianos de cine, así como de otros realizadores procedentes de latitudes como Francia, Cuba y Canadá. Se exhibirán durante la fecha indicada, documentales y ficción, en largo y cortometrajes, sobre el tema Haití de realizadores tan importantes como Humberto Solás, Juan Carlos Tavío y Arnold Antonin.

Dicha muestra ha sido catalogada como uno de los eventos audiovisuales mas importantes de la región Caribeña ya que se lleva a cabo en mas de 15 países de la región. Tanto las exhibiciones de las películas como la inauguración de la muestra son abiertas al público, libre de pago, y se proyectarán en dos funciones : a las 5 :00 de la tarde y 7 :00 de la noche, exceptuando el sábado que habrá una sola función a las 6 :00 de la tarde. ¿Tiene Sida el Presidente ? Es una historia estremecedora donde Dao, el “Presidente del Compás”, luce enfermo y cansado, parece que su vida se autodestruye entre el alcohol, el sexo y las drogas ;
pero en medio de todo este remolino aparece Nina. El romance entre ellos dará un giro a su vida para siempre.

Sinopsis: Dao es la estrella del mayor número de películas haitianas. Se hace llamar “Presidente del Compás”. Las mujeres caen a suspies y los hombres lo imitan. Sinopsis: Ambientada en los bateyes (poblados de chabolas levantados junto a las plantaciones de caña de azúcar de la República Dominicana), la película refleja la vida de los cortadores de caña y las condiciones que tienen que soportar. La mayoría de ellos son inmigrantes procedentes de Haití que han huido de la miseria y la violencia de su país en busca de una nueva vida. Ésta, sin embargo, ha resultado ser una forma moderna de esclavitud. Jean‐Baptiste (Valentin Valdez) y Magdaleine (Yeraini Cuevas) están casados ytrabajan en una de estas plantaciones. Tras morir su bebé por inanición, empiezan a pensar seriamente en volver a casa, aún cuando sus respectivas familias fueron asesinadas por el ejército.

Sinopsis: Cuando el joven haitiano Manuel regresa a su país, encuentra su comunidad sumida en una gran sequía y dividida por la enemistad de dos familias. La unión entre su novia y su madre evita la venganza y logra la unidad para construir el canal.

Los adultos que asisten son personas sencillas y amables que están luchando para sobrevivir. Al aprender a leer y escribir, se les anima a participar en la reconstrucción de su país. Todos aspiran a una vida mejor también. En marzo de 2008, los disturbios han sacudido al país. Los haitianos están desesperados, el precio sube, ellos no tienen nada que comer... Sin embargo, "los estudiantes" siguen asistiendo a clases. Para la mayoría de ellos es un éxito, la esperanza de ganar y tienen más confianza en el futuro. Sinopsis: En Creolle, el látigo que retrillaba la espalda del negro esclavo, se nombra RIGWAZ, Este documental ha sido realizado con el propósito de celebrar el Bicentenario de la Independencia de Haití. En ese lejano 1ro de Enero de 1804, el Rigwaz, dejó de tener la connotación oprobiosa que la hacía símbolo del sistema esclavista. En 27 minutos los realizadores, nos ofrecen un lienzo evocador de la sociedad y la cultura haitiana a lo largo de as dos últimas centurias.

Secuencia tras secuencias, pretende acercar al espectador a un Haití de carne y hueso, sin maquillajes, a un Haití que se debate entre sus raíces históricas y culturales .El documental rinde homenaje al afán del pueblo haitiano de resguardar su identidad. Sinopsis: El clarinetista, arreglista y director de orquesta de origen palestino Issa El Saieh viajó en su juventud de Haití a Estados Unidos para estudiar música, y a su regreso a Puerto Príncipe creó su propia agrupación. A partir del testimonio de este valioso artista, el magnífico documental Maestro Issa, establece un recuento sobre la música y el contexto de las décadas del cuarenta y cincuenta, haciendo particular énfasis en el flujo incesante de intercambios musicales entre Haití y Cuba. En estos grupos se incluyen algunos de los mejores músicos haitianos y artistas cubanos como Celia Cruz, Bebo Valdés y Dámaso Pérez Prado.

Haiti Cinema Displays

With the screening of the film AIDS Does the President?, The award-winning director is Arnold Antonin. Travelling will inaugurate the Film on Haiti, which will take place from 12 to 16 January 2011, the opening of the same will be Wednesday January 12th at 7: 30pm the first anniversary of the tragic earthquake that struck the sister Caribbean nation. The Dominican Association of Film Producers (ADOCINE) and haïtiens with Vision Film collaboration with other national and international institutions like UNICEF, UNESCO and Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) are responsible for organization of this exhibition, which will stage the Cultural Center auditorium Mauritius Baez in the area of Villa Juana.

The film festival takes the point of view of a select group of Haitian directors film and filmmakers from other latitudes as France, Cuba and Canada. It exhibited during the date, documentary and fiction, long and short films on the theme Haitian filmmakers as important as Humberto Solas, Juan Carlos and Arnold Antonin Tavío. The sample has been ranked as one of the most important audiovisual events in the Caribbean region as it takes place in over 15 countries in the region.

Both the exhibition of films as the opening of the exhibition are open to the public free of charge, and will be screened at two functions: to 5: 00 pm and 7: 00 pm, except on Saturday there will be a single function at 6: 00 pm.

Jean-Baptiste (Valentin Valdez) and Magdaleine (Yeraini Cuevas) are married and work in one of these plantations. After her baby died from starvation, they begin to think seriously about going home, even when their families were killed by the army.

In that distant 1st January 1804, the Rigwaz, no longer has the connotation that was shameful symbol of slavery. In 27 minutes, the filmmakers give us a painting reminiscent of the Haitian society and culture over the last two centuries. Sequence after sequence, aims to bring the viewer into a flesh and blood Haiti, without makeup, a Haiti that debate between historical and cultural roots.
