Kentridge video explores exile from South Africa
Mercurynews.com
William Kentridge's nine-minute video "Felix in Exile" is showing as a large-scale projection at the Cantor Arts Center through June 26. It's based on 40 of the artist's charcoal drawings that were reworked and then recaptured as photographs that he used to create a poetic video.

"Felix in Exile" is the final presentation in the Cantor's "Longing for Sea-Change" series. Kentridge created the work during the 1990s when debate swirled around the first open elections in South Africa.
The story centers on Felix, a man living in exile in Paris, and the ordeals faced by his alter ego, Nandi, a female land surveyor in the newly democratic South Africa.
