Call for African Artists and Speakers for the Fourth International Festival for Cultural Diversity
Press Release

UNESCO: looking for African artists under the age of 40

The UNESCO is organising its Fourth International Festival for Cultural Diversity--IFCD from May 16-21, 2011 in Paris.

Fourth International Festival for Cultural Diversity

Building on the previous three festivals, the activities of the Festival will revolve around three major interlinked activities:

i) an international contemporary art exhibition,
ii) a roundtable on contemporary arts,
iii) a catalogue focused on the activities and themes of the roundtable and exhibition.

For the purposes of this exhibition, the UNESCO is looking to exhibit artists who are below the age of 40 and from emerging/developing countries, and notably from Africa. If you would like to suggest any artist(s), please send his/her bio and portfolio to margerie@arterialnetwork.org.

UNESCO: looking for speakers for the roundtable

The UNESCO is looking for potential speakers for the roundtable to discuss and debate with the audience at this event. The speakers should have regional focuses with diverse experience such as curators, arts administrator, writer, researcher or critic.

It would be important for them to demonstrate concrete empirical experience in the region of their focus and not just patronage and theoretical research. They should be able to take their concrete, complex and elaborate experience and ideas and communicate them to an audience in simpler and more comprehensible language. This engaging and qualitative debate would also be streamed online and archived on the IFCD website.

If you would like to suggest any speaker, please send his/her profile and contact details (including a CV) to margerie@arterialnetwork.org.
