Recreation Arlette Vandeneycken

Artwork by Arlette Vandeneycken

The exhibition features a new collection of 50 original paintings exploring body movement in sports and Rwandan traditional dance. She depicts scenes where the playful gestures of children kicking a ball in a backyard attract her more than hard competition.

“Récréation” is about re-creation in a broad sense, but also about the school breaks during which children play, regain and spend energy, create themselves a world outside of classroom, a playground world, it’s in about finding time to enjoy life, enjoy playing and sports everywhere and in all situations.

The show runs from 12th May to 20 May 2011, at the Inganzo Art Gallery, KBC Building, Kimihurura Roundabout, Kigali.
