EnglishPoint Marina in association with The Diani Beach Art Gallery would like to announce an artwork & sculpture competition. EnglishPoint Marina is a contemporary apartment and hotel development and offers comfortable, luxurious and secure private and hotel accommodation. An artist's impression of the proposed EnglishPoint Marina project

EnglishPoint Marina is located on a 4 acre beach front site, across the creek from the historic Fort Jesus’ spectacular skyline of Mombasa old town.

EnglishPoint Marina has incorporated best practise standards of sustainability currently available and prides itself in its strong focus on making this project as environmentally friendly as possible.

The initiators of EnglishPoint Marina are now interested in commissioning three large pieces of artwork to showcase their interest in genuine contemporary African art and to complement the architects design and vision of the development.

Therefore, a competition will be held to identify artists and sculptors who are able to provide art pieces suitable for the project. The challenge will be to create pieces of artwork which are an interpretation of the theme: "Cultural Heritage - Past and Future".

If you are one of the winners of the competition, you will not only be awarded a commission of artwork, your piece(s) will also enjoy global recognition as being part of a highly publicised development project.

Below are documents having additional details, full briefings and site plans showing proposed positions of artworks:

The deadline for entries submission is October 15th 2011

The competition is managed by Helen Barker & Anina von Wachtel of the Diani Beach Art Gallery.
