1. How can I work with AfricanColours.com?
Visual artists can have a portfolio on AfricanColours by contacting the webmaster or maggie@africancolours.com Art or Art related organisations can have their website linked on AfricanColours or they can advertise with a banner or host space at AfricanColours to promote their projects. Artists, Photo Journalists and writers are invited to send in editorials that talk on the contemporary visual arts and artists in/from Africa. Art Organisations can send their news and press-releases to the AfricanColours editorial desk njoroge@africancolours.com for free dissemination via the AC website. We also encourage those who would like to act as local representative for their country to send us an e mail stating their interest to work with us in distributing information on events happening in their respective countries.
2. Who are the people behind AfricanColours?
The AfricanColours team working in Nairobi includes Andrew Njoroge (Director), Maggie Otieno (General Manager), Carl Odera (Webmaster & Programs assistant), David Kaiza (Correspondent), and Lydia Wairimu (Accounts and Administration)
Country representatives are: Stephen Garan'anga in Zimbabwe, Edmond Bambara in Burkina Faso, Hama Goro in Mali, Carol Kaminju in South Africa, John Owoo in Ghana, Ben Bukenya in Uganda,
3. What is AfricanColours aiming for? Does AfricanColours sell works of art?
Yes, AC mediates and assists when artists want to sell their works of art. Should an individual show interest in buying an art work through our website, AC charges a commission of 40 % of the sales through our website. AfricanColours invites artists and art organisations to sell works of art via the AfricanColours website.
4. Can I sell my products on the website?
Yes, as long as these products are relevant to the content of the AfricanColours website. Products approved by us will be loaded on the shop segment of the website (currently under construction). send any products that you would like us to take a look at to info@africancolours.com
5. Does AfricanColours organise workshops and exhibitions?
Yes, we do. We do all we can to seek new venues for artists to exhibit their work. We aim at bringing Art and Artists to the people. We encourage artists to promote their work and themselves via the World Wide Web.
6. How can I represent AfricanColours in my Country?
We are developing a local representative program, for more information contact njoroge@africancolours.com
7. Our company wants to become a patron for local artists.
AfricanColours can organise a 'makeover' for your building and offices. With paintings and sculptures we colour your walls, lobbies, corridors, reception areas, cafeteria and boardroom many African works are still sold and purchased by foreigners. We encourage the empowerment of the local art scene.
8. How to exchange links with AfricanColours.
We offer free linkages on our links pages and paid linkages on the homepage (including the country pages)
9. Does AfricanColours have a suggestion box?
Not really, but we are happy to receive all your comments and calls. Send mail to: info@africancolours.com
10. We are organizing an exhibition, can AfricanColours support us?
Yes, we organise virtual exhibitions for artists. You can consult the AfricanColours team on various matters of art and new media. We however need very clear images and details of artworks to be submitted atleast 2 weeks in advance of the on line showcase. Mail to andrew@africancolours.com
11. I would like to try and see how it is to 'be online'
We are currently working on the possibility of letting the artists update their portfolio pages directly. In the meantime we are encouraging artists to send us news and information to info@africancolours.com as well as their portfolios for updates.
12. Can I copy images or text from AfricanColours and paste them?
All images and text are protected by copyrights; therefore you are not allowed to use them for your own purposes. There are however some exceptions. Students and teachers can use our web content for educational purposes. To use our content for other media, one has to ask for permission and/or pay an AfricanColours a fee.
13. What does AfricanColours charge for its services?
Our rate card located on homepage is currently under construction. You will be able to see the various charges for the different services AC provides very soon. Otherwise for info on charges contact us directly.
