Dominique Thoenes grew up and schooled in Kenya, passionate about the country and the environment.

Dominique has founded and run Bella MATATA for the past 6 years after returning from Cape Town from studying carbon, water and energy analysis, to offer a consultation to help companies reduce their energy and water consumption, and their carbon foot print, and combining the projects with art and fashion.

Bella MATATA is a small sustainable business in Kenya that focuses on Art, Fashion and the environment. Bella MATATA has been running in Kenya for six years and has a small fashion label that is available in Nairobi, Diani and Cape Town. The company also hosts 3 to 4 art exhibitions a year, in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia and Tanzania.

Dominique Thoenes is the creative director and energy behind Bella MATATA. Bella MATATA also delivers creative consultancy, styling, writing and photographing for various magazines, and offers Art Department s services for film and advertising. Bella MATATA out-sources a lot of sewing, carpentry, welding and canvas making to local people and groups, including Don Boscos Boys Orphanage and the Wonder Welders, disabled welding group in Tanzania
