Edward Orato

Edwart Orato is a visual artist mainly in the field of painting in mixed media, from Kisumu, Kenya. He graduated in an art school known as Mwangaza in 1999, and afterwards, joined a group of artists to open  a curio place opposite a hotel, mainly for the purpose of selling paintings to tourists.

         of friend, venue: Wageningen(Kunst)

2006: Grass-Roots women conference art Exhibition
         (featuring Children's Art) Venue: Bondo, Kenya.

2005: Colours of hope Charity Art Exhibition (organized by
         KOFUP), Holiday Inn,Russel Square(U.k)

2003: Painting  A living (organized by Anna Marie, Journalist,
         Belgium) Venue:British Council Amphitheatre.

Workshops

2008: An Art facilitator in a Visual Artist Capacity building
        Workshop organized by Minisrty of Culture.

Projects

Offering Art-classes at Ggati Art centre,based in uyoma,for kids aged 8-12 yrs.
Of which we held exhibition featuring their works,Bondo Teachers Training College
Painting (oil/water colour) miniature paintings based on the a bove mentioned themes.
Religion Teachings Aid illusrations, at St.Joseph Milimani Pharish (Patron Fr.Hans Burgman)

Education

Joined Mwangaza Art school after completing secondary schooling (1997-1999)
Been free-lancing in Art field for over eight years,I like  working with different medium,his latest genre paintings include daily life activities around the lake region,traditional practices that modernization seems to eradicate on a higher rate.Abstract paintings in the line of African myths,folk-tales i.e Luanda Magere Myth.In his recent themes he tries to portray an African woman in a diverse field.In my latest style of painting of which I use lines,  since it is part of  a painting process and I don’t also want  to lose them (lines) to define/separate  shapes and colours On my paintings.
