Hamed Ouatarra -- Design

Artist Profile

Hamed Ouatarra is a Design Artist.

Hamid Ouatarra

In order to create unusual objects inspired by local African experience, Hamid Outara is particularly interested in objects that are round in shape and domed as they lend themselves to several interpretations while retaining  traditional character which he then uses to the folds that he wishes.

He says: "My goal is to provide a range of furniture,  a key point in African continent suffers from imports and all kinds of Chinese furniture, especially of poor quality which do not reflect our culture as our inspiration from traditional furniture carved by our artisan tend to disappear or even disappeared as a result of copying. My work makes a difference in peoples living room and modern African sound design luxury that we offer in people's homes. I create an African design which is consumed by Africans, drawing on common everyday object to this market".
