Mia Collis Photographer Artist.

Mia Collis is a documentary photographer and at the same time a production manager for Viewfinders, the hugely successful documentary/Wildlife film company that recently celebrated its facilitation of 1000 films - including award winning planet Earth, Life of mammals, Big cat diary and IMAX elephants and many more.

2010: -Assistant in Kenya to British photographer Martin Parr

Febuary - May 2007: KUL GRAPHICS Design Agency Nairobi,Certificate- distinction - essential software for web and electronic publishing. Programmes include - In design, Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDraw, Dream weaver, Macromedia and Flash Animation.

October – Jan 2005/06: Researcher and Personal Assistant to renowned photographers: Angela Fisher and Carol Beckwith http://www.africanceremonies.com/ 

May – Dec 2004: Journey: On the Path of Shamanism in Britain. Director and Producer - Short 28 minute Anthropological Documentary (mini dv/dvcam).UK financial support from the Oxford Film and Video Makers (OFVM). A talking heads piece. Headed a crew of five, travelling southern England to seek interviews with Shamanic healers and alternative medicine practitioners.

2004: Survivor CBS American TV show. Survivor Guatemala – Production Assistant Coordinator (headed a team of 19)

2001-2002: Survivor Thailand  - Production Assistant Coordinator (headed a team of 19), Survivor Marquesas  – Production Assistant,  Survivor Africa – Production Assistant. Worked for the above series consisting of 12 episodes each Tested, ran, set up all challenges. Camera blocked, doubled (second unit).

Education

Sept 2004: National Open College Network Certificate. Made a short film screened in Oxford -“Where are you?”

2001 – 2004: Oxford Brookes University. Anthropology Major – BA Honours 2:1 (64%). Dissertation – Looking into the African/Asian population in Kenya. Visual Anthropology Module.

1994 – 1999: Millfield School, Somerset, England. 4 Advanced Level passes – English Literature and Language, Art and Design, General Studies, Philosophy. 10 GCSE passes which included Photography, Art History, Drama. Editor School Newspaper, Head of House, School Senior Prefect, Director of School Pantomime, Head of Charity Committee.

Interest

Photography. Fascinated by Anthropology (my degree) and passionate about film, film production and camera work.
