Artist Profile

Toyin Omolowo, a Multimedia Visual Artist was born on July 15, 1964 in Lagos, Nigeria. He studied Art at the Yaba College of Technology, between 1984 and 1990. His art experience since 1990 has been rich, covering Painting, Textile Art, Graphics and Metal Sculpture.

He is a member of Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), Surface Design Association (USA), ARTZERO Group and also a member of Association of Nigerian Textile Artists (ANTA)

Projects

His ambition is to set up community arts programs to unlock the doors of opportunities for Nigerian youths in this era of digital revolution. Create an enabling atmosphere for creative design skills and develop strategic design thinking to enhance life through art.

Publications

1993: His six paintings were featured in all the pages of
          Allstates Trust Bank Plc corporate calendar. His works
          are in collection of many private homes and corporate
          bodies in Nigeria, Japan, Canada , South Africa , USA
          and Europe.

Interest

Omolowo has a riveting style that compels viewers’ attention. He notes that his concepts are imaginative reflections from the subconscious that is alive to contemporary art.
 

Award

2005: Excellence Award at the Prestigious Hyogo
          lnternational Competition of Paintings (best top 100
          artists selected out of 3000 artists all over the globe) in
          Kobe, Japan.

2008: Nigerian Breweries Art Competition Award for
          Excellence.

2008: Terra Kulture Grant Foundation Award

1991: Bassey-lta-Ekpo award on traditional prints in Calabar.

1993: Outreach Culture Club Award for excellence in Visual
          Art in Port-Harcourt. 

He has won many laurels both in Textile designing and painting.
